Dr. Danielle Leddy, MD, FRCPC


Dr Danielle Leddy completed her medical degree and fellowships in Internal Medicine and Adult Cardiology at the University of Ottawa before completing an Interventional Cardiology Fellowship at the University of Ottawa Heart Institute (UOHI).

From 1992 to 2003 she practiced as an interventional cardiologist at the Ottawa Hospital (TOH) General Campus and the Ottawa Heart Institute. In 2000 she was appointed Medical Director of the Coronary Care Unit at the Ottawa Hospital’s General campus. 

In 2003, Dr. Leddy joined the St-Mary’s General Hospital Regional Cardiac Care Centre, in Kitchener-Waterloo, as the first Medical Director for their new Interventional Cardiology Program. As director, she collaborated to develop the Interventional Cardiology program and subsequently implement interdisciplinary STEMI protocols and programs to optimize emergency care and definitive therapy for patients suffering acute myocardial infarctions in the greater Kitchener-Waterloo region.

Since 2017, as Joint Chief Medical Information Officer, she has led the successful clinical implementation of a new health information system in both acute care hospitals in the Kitchener-Waterloo area. She worked with the team to implement computerized physician order entry workflows and a full complement of electronic order sets. She participated in the development of the Cerner Provincial Reference Model. She continued to practice as a general cardiologist and cared for a wide variety of patients at both sites.

Throughout her career, she has enjoyed teaching and mentoring undergraduate medical students and postgraduate trainees.

Dr. Danielle Leddy is very please to be back home in Ottawa to provide consultation services to adult out patients with all forms of heart disease. Her main clinical interests are the diagnosis and management of coronary artery disease and valvular heart disease.
