Dr. Jodi Heshka


Dr. Heshka completed her medical training in Internal Medicine at the University of Ottawa. During her fellowship she received specialized training in the management of hypertension, dyslipidemia and diabetes as well as in cardiac risk stratification and cardiac rehabilitation.

Prior to pursuing her medical degree, Dr. Heshka completed graduate work at McGill University, where her research focused on the role of dietary fat in the neurohormonal regulation of body weight. Dr. Heshka has also done research in the areas of difficult-to-control hypertension and inpatient diabetes management. Dr. Heshka has published in a wide variety of journals, such as the Journal of the American Society of Hypertension, the Journal of Lipid Research, and the Canadian Journal of Public Health. She was also a co-author of Health Canada’s Scientific Summary regarding the role of dietary sources of soluble fibre and coronary heart disease.

Dr. Heshka’s clinical focus is in cardiovascular disease prevention and management in women, including hypertension, dyslipidemia and diabetes management.

Dr. Heshka will be spearheading the WATCHH Program (Women's ATherosclerosis Cholesterol Hypertension & Hormone Program)

Dr. Heshka welcomes referrals for prevention and treatment of CVD in women and patients with rheumatologic diseases.

Outside of medicine, Dr. Heshka’s interests include cooking, hiking, sketching, furniture restoration and piano.
