Dr. Chamoun Chamoun

Cardiologist

Dr. Chamoun graduated magna cum laude from the Medical School at the University of Ottawa in 1996. He completed Internal Medicine at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota in 1999 and undertook Cardiology training at Indiana University training with one of the godfathers of echocardiography, Dr Harvey Feigenbaum.

Following completion of his Cardiology training Dr. Chamoun pursued fellowship training in echocardiography including Trans-esophageal echo (TEE) and Stress echo and did an additional year of training in Invasive and Interventional Cardiology (angiogram and angioplasty) at the University of Indiana.

Dr. Chamoun has active staff privileges at the Montfort Hospital. He is the Chief of Cardiology at Montfort. He also has Cardiac Catheterization privileges at the University of Ottawa Heart Institute.

His main interests in cardiology are diagnosis and management of coronary artery disease. He is considered an expert in the field of stress echocardiography. His research interests include cholesterol plaque biology and atherosclerosis (hardening of the arteries). He is also very active in the community in terms of public speaking and educating patients on heart disease.

Dr. Chamoun is fluent in English, French and Arabic. He is also able to communicate easily in Spanish. His hobbies are playing basketball and learning foreign languages.
