Internist
Dr. Boivin completed his medical training in Internal Medicine at the University of Sherbrooke in 1993, Dr. Boivin practiced at the Gatineau Hospital for 15 years as a general internist and critical care specialist. During his tenure at the Gatineau Hospital, he oversaw the training of medical residents in family medicine and internal medicine from McGill University. He also served on the Board of Evaluation for Internal Medicine of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada in 2001, 2002 and 2004.
Dr. Boivin is the founder and former Medical Director of the Outaouais Immunodeficiency Centre, the first centre of its kind established in the Outaouais region. For over ten years, Dr. Boivin was also a visiting Special Consultant at Clinique Médicale L’Actuel in Montreal, where he treated metabolic complications of antiretroviral therapies and HIV related conditions.
His clinical focus is in cardiovascular disease management and prevention, general cardiology assessments, diabetes management and CVD prevention in immunodeficient patients.
Dr. Boivin will be spearheading two programs at OCC:
Dr. Boivin welcomes referrals for diabetes management including insulin initiation and titration and for detection, prevention and treatment of CVD in HIV-AIDS patients.
Dr. Boivin is fully bilingual. His interests outside of medicine include cooking, singing and ikebana.
